Franken wins it

After much hemming and hawing Al Franken was determined the winner of the US Senate seat.  This puts the magic number to 60 (yes yes I'm aware of the 2 independants making up the total number) for fillibuster proof sessions on the horizon.

Took'em long enough.

Have a good day Cindy!  =P

(don't blow a gasket or anything)

Netflix hits Xbox live

As of today all xbox live members will be able to access Netflix via their 360.  From what I understand about 16.99 a month will allow you to access over 10,000 movies for instant download.  Movie freaks like myself are now rejoicing.

But when I get home from work I'll be able to give a better review of the update itself because its not just netflix thats being added today.

Which is more likely to happen first?

The Cubs winning a world series or the Vikings winning a superbowl?

Xbox Live

So anyone have an Xbox live account on this site?  Sorta been wondering who plays what and such and looking to discuss upcoming releases for this year.  If you have an Xbox live account and you actually have spent 3 seconds reading this post your gamertag.

My gamertag is:  Kicker of Tale

Because thats how I whoop.

I recently bought  Fable 2 and love it.  Also planning to pick up the new COD game shipping out next month.

So any topic on Xbox live goes from games to free stuff on the marketplace.

35w bridge to reopen 9/18

Months ahead of schedule the 35w bridge will finally reopen tomorrow at 5am.  As many of you already know it collapsed last year during pm rushhour traffic, thankfully it was only single lane at the time and not fully loaded as there would have been most assurdely more deaths.

This event rocked the nation and fellow minnesotans as stories like this don't happen in our backyard and when they do......well it takes you by suprise.

Its good to be reminded that when disaster strikes humanity rises up to meet the challenge.  That was evident in those that were effected and the efforts of the search and rescue teams who searched for people up and down the river and in the bi-partisan effort in all aspects of the government to get the funding to rebuild this bridge and to the construction workers who built it.  Being months ahead of schedule is one of the surer signs that this wasn't just another job, it held more significance.

I'm sure all twin citiens can agree that its nice to have it back.

Three cheers for less clogged traffic on 94.

The Dresden Files

So my friend gives me a book and says I'll like it. Which is normally the case with the exception of the first book of the Dresden files I read called: Storm Front.

I don't just like it.

I loves it.

This series of books dubbed the Dresden files is about an honest to goodness Wizard named Harry Dresden. Harry is a private investiagater in the Chicago area and assists the Chicago PD with some cases that can't be explained by science and also helps out some locals with missing persons and such.

But no love potions.

I think the best way to describe this series is a Harry Potter for adults. Now I haven't read word 1 of any Harry Potter books (but I do enjoy the movies) so I can't really compare but really its what it feels like.

Its enjoyable.

I think what I like most about these books is that the action literally doesn't ever stop. Each chapter is ended on a cliff hanger that really makes you want to keep turning pages until you read the whole thing. The author Jim Butcher does a splendid job of interlacing the pace of the book and at the same time not boring you with overt details. What I also like is that the main character Harry keeps having one bad thing after another happening to him and its a pure delight to see how he manages to save the day. Consequently his actions in saving the day in one book negatively effect what happens to him in books later down the road.

If you want a book to read that isn't long on pages, gets to the point and action and laced with some suprisingly funny dark humor. I would recommend this book to you or anyone above the ages of 16. Not many treats like this come along but I assure you this is money well spent.
